Biography
Born in Funchal, she graduated from the E.S.B.A.L. She lived in Munich and Paris being on an F.C.G. scholarship in 1958 where she was a co-founder of the “KWY” group. She has undertaken her activity in the context of painting, serigraphy and experimental video, as well as experiences in the theatrical area. She was one of the entertainers of the Pórtico Gallery in Lisbon in the 1950's.
In the 1960's, Lourdes Castro set out on objectualism, having always demonstrated great interest in the exploration of diversified materials. In the field of objectualism, she settled on contours and silhouettes. She ended up using her own body in shadow theatre as a kind of extension and culminating in the proposals which had been developed.
