The temporary exhibition room of the Amadeo Souza-Cardoso Municipal Museum – MMASC – hosted the opening of the exhibition "Silva Porto - the landscape in drawing and painting” on September 28th, at 5:30 pm.

This exhibition provides an informed presentation on part of the graphic work of Silva Porto (1850-1893), interpreting a set of drawings from the collection of the Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes - SNBA. Specifically, his innovative look at the territory is framed, characterized by the novelty of the air book style and the approach to the territory's identity traits: landscapes, trees, animals and people. It brings together a set of 32 drawings and a painting, promoting a contextualized reading of its genesis. Unexpectedly current, Silva Porto's work is now presented in Amarante. It should be noted that the Municipality of Amarante saw its application to DgArtes approved, in the context of the Portuguese Contemporary Art Network – RPAC, called “Visual Landscapes”, of which this exhibition will be the first action in Amarante.

The application includes the circulation of 4 exhibitions, between 4 territories: Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes - SNBA (Lisbon), Museu Côa Parque (Vila Nova de Foz Côa), Museu Municipal Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso (Amarante) and Galeria Nova Ogiva ( Óbidos). This is a partnership between these entities that will last until May 2026. The title, “Visual Landscapes”, and its programmatic content, refer to the starting point, to the possibility of new beginnings and connections.
